Ingredients:

  • Pork Lard (Manteca)
  • Chile Ancho
  • Canned Beans
  • Canned Beef
  • Tostada

Toppings:

  • Shredded Cabbage
  • Tomato
  • Queso Fresco
  • Avocado
  • Salsa
  • Sour Cream

    Instructions:

     1. Prepare the Ancho Chiles: In a small saucepan, heat the pork lard over medium heat. Once melted, add the chile anchos and fry in the pan until it becomes aromatic.

    2. Prepare the Beans: In a blender, blend canned beans until smooth. Add bits of water to help it blend easier.

    3. Pour Refried Beans into the Pan: Add the beans to the small pot where you fried the chile anchos and let it cook to combine the flavors.

     4. Cook the Canned Beef: In a large skillet, heat the canned beef over medium heat. Use a spatula to break up the beef and cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Shred the meat to your liking.

    5. Assemble The Tostadas: Take your tostada and spread a generous layer of beans on top of each one. Spoon the shredded beef mixture on top of the beans.

    6. Add Toppings: Top the beef and bean tostadas with shredded cabbage, diced tomatoes, crumbled queso fresco, sliced avocado, salsa, and a dollop of sour cream.

    7. Serve: Serve immediately while the tostadas are crisp and fresh. Enjoy your homemade shredded beef tostadas with all the flavorful toppings!

Tip: You can customize the toppings based on your preference. Try adding pickled jalapeños, cilantro, or a squeeze of lime for an extra burst of flavor.
